The Senior Community Service Employment Program
(SCSEP)
Since the late 1960s, National Council on Aging (NCOA) has
sponsored the Senior Community Service Employment Program. Funded
by the Federal Government, the program helps older workers find
part-time jobs in such places as senior centers, health
departments, schools, libraries and agency offices. The workers
can also receive valuable training while earning money and
enhancing their sense of self-worth.
The program's major emphasis is on helping older workers
develop the transferable skills that help them stay competitive in
today's fast-changing business world. The Mid-East
Commission's Workforce Development operates the SCSEP, funded
through the NCOA, for our counties. For more information on
the program, link to Region Q Workforce Development at www.regionqwdb.org.
